About Robynson
My name is Robynson or Robyn for short. Being a registered Social Worker, I've had years of experience supporting clients through various traumatic events. Since obtaining my Masters degree I have continued to grow my practice as a psychotherapist where I use my creativity combining therapeutic practices to cater to the specific needs of clients. I provide a culturally sensitive, and client-centred approach, where clients are active agents in the journey of the therapeutic process. The goal is to help connect you to your needs and be a support as we brainstorm the steps to reaching those needs.
My practice also includes skill-building in regards to building awareness of needs and boundaries. We also build problem-solving skills to confront barriers, anxieties and fears that can keep us from pursuing our goals. Additionally, we build communication skills to help us communicate these needs and boundaries to our partners or others in our lives.
The goal of my practice is to promote empowerment and to help clients recognize the ability to find the answers within themselves. My role as a psychotherapist is to be a support and encourage you through your journey.

Who I Work Best With
I tend to work best with:
My approach changes to fit each individual. There's always something that can be learnt from each other.
The conversations I find myself having again and again
Apologizing for feeling. In my first sessions with clients I try to give a heads up that this is a safe space to share anything, but even after that clients struggle to give themselves that allowance and find themselves apologizing for expressing.
What gives me hope
God - the source of unconditional love. Where we can always go to be reminded that we are worthy of breath.
What's it like to work with me
I'm an evolving Therapist. We're all evolving as people, as we learn and grow. I'm no different. I'm transparent and honest about the realities of healing imperfectly. I believe if I'm going to expect clients to be real, I need to be as well. I find when both parties come in giving themselves the allowance to just be, we take a big step towards experiencing unconditional love.

What's my story
Motherhood has greatly influenced how I understand unconditional love. Not just the love you experience for another human being, but the unconditional love that is required for yourself as you move through transitions of life. I've seen how unconditional love towards the self has been difficult for us to achieve.
My brain was always looking for a reason that will prove worthiness of unconditional love. Looking for a reason to love or be loved is conditional love. The idea that we have to prove that we are worthy of love, healing, and intimacy is something I learnt needed to change. The immense pressure to be perfect wasn't sustainable. The resentment pouring into every area of life, which led to guilt and more resentment towards the self. Unconditional love towards the self is the only sustainable motivation for inner work and healing. This has become a big part of what gets revealed in my work with clients.

What misconceptions about therapy do you often challenge?
I've heard the misconception that Therapy is suppose to fix people. Correction - Therapy is a tool used to build intimacy with the self.
What changes would you hope clients notice in themselves?
I hope clients notice that they give themselves more grace, and are able to take more accountability for themselves. I also hope clients build confidence to confront fears and anxieties as a way of achieving the goals they set for themselves.
