About Atlee
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.” — Brené Brown
Do you feel like you are constantly living on autopilot? You may find yourself stuck in a state of high alert, feeling completely numb, or weighed down by past wounds. I recognize how challenging these experiences can be and aim to support you in ways that honour your voice as the expert in your life.
Through navigating my own experiences and supporting those close to me, I have witnessed both the challenges of mental health and the healing that compassionate support can offer. These experiences fostered a deep motivation to understand others, inspired my path toward a career in counselling, and continue to shape my commitment to providing a safe, validating space for clients.
My approach is warm, non-judgemental, and culturally informed, with a focus on building genuine trust. Together, we will explore your innate strengths and capacity for growth, while tailoring therapy to your needs and goals. To support this foundation, I use an integrative approach, drawing from evidence-based techniques to encourage meaningful self-reflection and strengthen your connection to your emotions, thoughts, and body.
I am currently completing a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto and hold an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University. Over the past four years, I have supported trauma survivors across diverse settings and bring a trauma-informed approach to my work. I also specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and burnout.
Outside of my role, I enjoy reading, painting, working out, thrifting, walking my dog Finley, and spending time cuddling with my cats. I also value spending time with family and friends.
If my approach resonates with you, I invite you to schedule an initial consultation to connect and explore your next steps.
Who I Work Best With
I tend to work best with:
Are looking for support in navigating a traumatic experience
Feel overwhelmed and unsure of what next steps to take
Are navigating emotional challenges, low mood, or challenges with self-esteem
Often hold themselves to harsh expectations or struggle with perfectionism
Find relationships difficult to navigate or want to build healthier patterns of connection
Are searching for a supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental space to explore your experiences
The conversations I find myself having again and again
I often find myself working with clients who want change in their lives but are unsure what steps to take to reach their goals. Some clients are navigating a sense of disconnection or tension between different aspects of their identity or life experiences, whereas others are working through emotional wounds from the past. My role focuses on supporting clients in bringing mindful attention to their thoughts, behaviours, routines, and emotions. Through a collaborative process, we work to create meaningful change aligned with the life they want to build.
What gives me hope
Through my work, I have witnessed clients' capacity for healing, growth, and resilience. Seeing clients reconnect with themselves and find a renewed sense of direction continues to inspire me.
What's my story
My personal experience in a long-term interracial relationship has shaped the ways I understand how culture and identity inform connection and communication with others. This lived experience, combined with my clinical work and research contributions in religious and cultural psychology, has taught me that each person’s healing process is shaped by their unique experiences and context. This has grounded my approach in cultural humility and mutual respect.

Who are you when you're not working
Outside of my role, I enjoy reading, painting, working out, thrifting, walking my dog Finley and spending time cuddling with my cats. I also value spending time with family and friends.
What misconceptions about therapy do you often challenge
Therapy doesn't have to feel intimidating. It can be a warm, down-to-earth space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are.
Many people think they need to come into therapy with a clear goal or know exactly what they want to work on. You don't. Therapy is a collaborative process of exploring your experiences, thoughts, and emotions. It’s okay to have scattered thoughts or feel unsure of where to start. My approach is to meet you with kindness and curiosity, while looking at the different areas of your life and how they connect.
