Hi, my name is Amy, and I am a Registered Social Worker with a passion for supporting individuals who experience intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.

My journey to becoming a therapist stems from my childhood experience as a first generation, Korean-Canadian immigrant. I grew up in a small, suburban town where the only Asian students in school were my siblings and one other family. While my 8-year-old brain did not comprehend racism and discrimination, I quickly learned that parts of my Korean identity prevented me from “fitting in”. To adapt, I learned to deny parts of my identity and focus on what others accepted. In addition, immigration and settlement stressors often activated intergenerational trauma and conflict in my family. Struggling with self-acceptance, discrimination, and family conflict can feel isolating and pervasive. You may have learned to take care of others while ignoring your needs, feel responsible for how others feel, or fear disappointing anyone. If these experiences sound familiar to you, you are not alone.

As a therapist, I hold deep respect for your unique lived experience. I’m committed to co-creating a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, safety, and deep care and support for change. Together, we will explore the impacts of past harm in your present day life, understand and manage unpleasant emotions better, and heal the relationship you have with yourself and others important in your life. Whether this is a new feeling or something you've been experiencing for a while, change is possible - and I would be honoured to partner with you and navigate the road ahead.

"It is so important to take time for yourself and find clarity. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself"
