Hi! My name is Hilary and I am here to help! I am a warm, informal, practical, and non-judgmental counsellor, with an interest in helping people find their strengths and develop resilience. I will help you develop your ability to regulate and understand your emotions, work your way through problems, and understand your patterns.
I have twelve years of experience as a high school teacher with the Toronto District School Board, and love working with young people. I also facilitate a therapeutic art group at a downtown Toronto drop-in for vulnerable adults. I worked as a ceramic artist for seven years and bring my creativity and joy at problem-solving to the therapy room. As a working mother who has had fertility issues and experienced burnout, I have insight into the complex demands placed on women in our society.
My practice is feminist, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ affirming. I use multiple therapeutic approaches, including, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy.
Outside of my work, I love reading, lifting weights, sewing, and knitting, as well as canoe trips in the summer and spending time with my family. I look forward to meeting you!

“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.”
— Mary Anne Radmacher
