About Phoebe
I believe life is characterized by joy and suffering. To truly heal from suffering, all facets of the person must be addressed and restored. Counselling, therefore, involves listening holistically and unflinchingly to the stories of sorrows and struggles, regardless of whether the stories are familiar or unfamiliar to me.
My studies in social work and counselling psychology have exposed me to the different aspects of being human. I have studied various evidence-based methods that have empowered and strengthened human flourishing. My experiences with populations with mild to severe forms of schizophrenia, bipolarism, learning and cognitive disabilities, and immigrant/newcomer issues have provided me with practical understandings that integrate theory and the practical spheres of human living.
I affirm an approach that incorporates both resources from within and without the person. My therapeutic modalities encompass an eclectic integration of strengths-based, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and narrative therapies. I remain a firm believer in integrating other modalities that can prove fruitful to the unique needs of an ever-changing and diverse society.
