About Hitomi

Hello everyone, I am a Clinical Mental Health Counsellor in training, working under the supervision of Judy Lui, Registered Psychotherapist. I use the Person-Centred Therapy with Attachment and Trauma approach to work with clients on day-to-day stress coping, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and cultural identities.

Unhealed trauma and unprocessed past events can make us feel stuck. This can include things that happened within your home or close circles, or systemic trauma such as discrimination.

I love to help clients feel empowered to make changes, be free from the past, and start shaping a positive life for themselves. I use an integrative method and draw on therapeutic approaches from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family System, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy.

I’m a designer and researcher turned clinical counsellor. As a User Experience Designer, I help lead and deliver citizen-centred government services, including healthcare and legal aid services. Currently pursuing a Master’s of Clinical Mental Health Counselling at the University of the Cumberlands, I have been seeing clients since the beginning of 2021. I am fluent in English and Japanese.
