About Alia

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

My educational background in sociology, international development, and counselling psychology and 10+ years in the non-profit sector has provided me with in-depth experience working with diverse populations.

While living abroad for several years, I realized my passion for social justice is rooted in helping individuals; this led me to pursue a career as a psychotherapist. As someone who has attended therapy for more than 20+ years, I know it is challenging to be vulnerable with another person. This is why I will always provide you with a non-judgemental, trustworthy, supportive, and professional space where you can be yourself. Through mindfulness, I’ve learned how to get out of my head and into the present moment, which helps me to worry less and appreciate the little moments in life.

I can help you to identify and better understand your thoughts, experiences, and relationships to help you feel more empowered and live your fullest life. We will also laugh, as therapy doesn’t have to always be serious! My integrative approach combines four modalities: person-centred, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and strengths-based to ensure you receive personalized treatment. I have personally experienced traumatic loss, and my ongoing experience in grief allows me to meet you where you are. To me, life is an ocean with waves that continue to rise and fall, and we must learn to do the same.

I look forward to working with you.
